Coach’s ethics

General

  • Coaching is neither counseling nor therapy.
  • The coach represents his profession in a positive way and applies to himself first what he says to others.
  • He presents himself clearly and according to his skills
  • It respects different approaches to the profession and intellectual property.
  • If necessary, he directs the coachee to another professional.
  • He is transparent about the work that will be done as well as the price of his services.
  • He respects the physical and psychological integrity of his coachee.

Professional conduct

  • The coach determines and defines the boundaries of the professional relationship.
  • He establishes a contract with his coachees (the coachee’s acceptance of the T&Cs when booking represents this contract) which he honors in the context of the professional coaching relationship.
  • He ensures from the start that his coachee has a good understanding of the nature of the coaching, the framework of confidentiality, the financial agreements and the other terms of the contract.
  • He does not accept any service for which he is not qualified. In this case, the coach will advise the coachee of a professional who will respond adequately to his request and his need.
  • The coach makes every effort to ensure that the coachee can become autonomous as quickly as possible and gain independence.
  • He accompanies his coachee according to his request, leaving him the responsibility of his choices and decisions.
  • Before each intervention, he takes into account the ecology of the client’s request (respect for his integrity, his professional – relational – personal environment).
  • He will inform his client of the possible consequences in his approach to change. It will adapt according to the request of the coachee and in respect of the stages of progress of this one.
  • The coach will not exercise any power and will not carry out any intervention without the agreement of his coachee. He will refrain from presenting THE solution to him but will help his client to find his own.
  • The coach will respect the right of the coachee to continue or not his coaching sessions with him.

Respect and confidentiality

  • The coach will respect the confidentiality of the comments of his client and his potential partners, unless expressly authorized by him or required contrary to the law.

  • The coached client certifies having answered the questions in full and in accordance with the truth and having omitted or concealed nothing concerning his physical and/or psychological health and his personal and professional situation.

  • The coach will not accept any other remuneration of any kind whatsoever than that previously agreed with the coachee.

  • The coach will show total honesty and loyalty to his coachee.

    Conflicts of interest

    • The coach will ask for the agreement of his coachees if he wants to mention their identity or any information allowing them to be identified.

    • The coach will take care to avoid any conflict between his interests and those of his clients.

    • In the event of a possible conflict, the coach will openly expose the situation and discuss clearly with the coachee on how to deal with the conflicting situation.

    Continuing education

The coach will have to train and be aware of any changes in his profession throughout his professional life.
